Hulu.com: Not From The USA? Too Bad!

Once again international users are shut out from yet another video content service: Hulu.com. Let’s just add it to the list that already includes iTunes, MTV, NBC, ABC, et al.

It’s almost perverted in the sense. As globalization rips through the planet, somehow it seems that watching a 22-minute episode of the Simpsons on Hulu is an unreasonable thing to ask–nevermind that I live less than 100 miles of the U.S. border and that we live and breathe U.S. media. Look folks, the web is global. Adapt to it.

To all of the unions out there, and guilds, performance rights societies, royalty collectors, attorneys, producers, executive producers, actors, distributors, affiliates and networks out there: get a clue.

To everyone I forgot to name… add yourself to the list.

Tip ‘o the hat to Mitch Joel for this video.

I Just Re-Launched FixionMedia.com

I took the first day of 2008 to personally re-launch Fixion Media. (www.fixionmedia.com)

Imagine if you could re-launch your company or personal brand in an instant? I must admit, this isn’t the first time I adapt the future of my company to the increasingly globalized and technolocally-centric world. Second admission: it gets more enjoyable every time I do it. This is what life is about. If you can apply your learnings to actual life every couple of years, the world is bound to look peachy and progressive.

To a prosperous 2008. Happy new year!

(Stay tuned for excellent coverage on this blog and podcast in 2008 about marketing, advertising, business, politics, and more. My plate is full. Dine on it at your leisure.)

Share 2007: An Annual Tradition By Way Of Twist Image

Hey Twist Image! Share 2006 was very cool but Share 2007 is even better. You’ve already pre-set the bar higher for next year and this just just hit the feeds.

Check it out for yourself: it’s a digital holiday card that embodies the spirit of 2007. There are some special appearances on there by Seth Godin, David Weinberger, and Jaffe amongst some other names you’re likely already familiar with.

Happy holidays everyone and to an amazing 2008. Meanwhile, 2007 will fade as a great business year in the digital world but… it ain’t got nothing on 2008. Recession or not. Here we come.

Digital R/evolution

I got a few tweets about a video called Digital R/evolution. It’s not as good as The Machine Is Us/ing Us video but its points are well taken.

I do want to take issue with one of the lines in the Digital R/evolution video, which states that “today we create more information than the experts“. True perhaps but this is unimportant to the debate. I can only assume the term “expert” means anything from business leader, politician, intellectual elite, and/or ruling classes? Who knows. Regardless, on the whole we might produce more information but let’s be honest; the lowest common denominator doesn’t have much impact on society.

We should recognize that information on its own is a powerless entity. The only things that matter are the circles of power and influence that you live and work amongst. Just ask the experts.
